If you live in the US, they can both easily be found new expect to pay about $35-$40 for each of them. In addition, it might have been nice to include some sort of a small accessory that would allow their bases to be secured together.Įach of these figures retailed for 3333 yen when new. It's just too bad that GSC didn't include more accessories with the two of them. Overall, these figures are a fun addition to the collection of any Vocaloid fan, as Rin and Len look quite adorable when posed together. Rin and Len came to be with the second iteration of the Vocaloid synthesizer, released on December 27, 2007, so in some sense December 27 is the twins' birthday. The high five is perfectly in character for the two of them. This is the way I have the two of them displayed for now. Both Rin and Len come with a set of joined hands, so if you have two other Nendos that need to hold hands, now's your chance. Probably the best feature of these figures is the ability to have them hold hands. The winking eye is on the opposite side compared to Rin. Unlike Rin, when swapping out Len's faces, part of his headset detaches as well. Interestingly, both of Len's ponytails are articulation points, although the range of movement at those two points is pretty limited. Apparently the older Nendoroid Rin and Len figures came with a microphone and a keyboard guitar, respectively, so the lack of accessories with these figures is even more puzzling. I can think of plenty of fun accessories that could have been included with these two (a road roller, a game/remote controller, or just a microphone or two), but alas, the only accessories are just extra sets of limbs. They really don't have any interesting accessories. Len comes with for all purposes the same accessories as does his sister, which brings me to my biggest issue with these figures. I do like the shading and all the little details on her sleeves.Ī small complaint is that there are a couple of messy spots on her hairclips. I can't really recall many instances where Rin is seen in such a state of mind. Her "worried" face is probably my least favorite of the three. Some care might be needed not to damage her headset while doing so. To switch out her face, her bangs are removed. It would be very easy to just give her hair a flat finish and be done with it so kudos to GSC here.

I like that Rin has quite a bit of shading in her hair. I found them to be a bit limited though as far as how they can be posed (more on that in a bit). We'll see that the overall finish of the figures is generally excellent, as is expected from GSC. As you can see, the arm attaches to a point on her upper back. Some Nendoroids will stand on their own with a little effort, but I could not get either Rin or Len to balance without help, so using the mounting arms will likely be necessary. Rin comes with two additional faces, three extra arms, a special set of hands that allows her to hold hands with Len (or any other Nendoroid for that matter), an extra leg, her base and mounting arm, an extra arm which will accommodate two Nendoroids, and a black backdrop. If you display the boxes, that bright orange color will certainly catch the eye! The packaging is similar to other Nendoroids from Good Smile.Įach box measures approximately 21 by 18 by 8 cm, and each figure and box weighs in just shy of 300 grams. She is quite cute, she seems to have a little bit more of a melancholic streak in her than the other Vocaloids, and in my opinion she and Len have one of the more interesting and diverse song collections in the Vocaloid catalog, ranging from bubblegum pop (Melancholic, Summer Idol, Meltdown, Fire*Flower), to pop with a bit of an edge (Tokyo Teddy Bear, I Can Take Off My Panties!), to heartful ballads (Kokoro), to fun duets (Remote Controller, The Butterfly on my Right Shoulder, Kagamine Hachi Hachi Flower Fight). On a personal note, Rin is my favorite Vocaloid. While Len added a male voice to the Vocaloid lineup, Rin has a somewhat more powerful voice than does Hatsune Miku in fact, some of the promotional materials for this figure describe her singing voice as "warm, powerful, and relaxing". Rin and Len are fraternal twins, and it is not uncommon for the two of them to duet together. Today, to commemorate the sixth "birthday" of Rin and Len Kagamine, we'll be reviewing Good Smile's Nendoroid figures of Rin and Len, the "Append" versions, to be precise.Ībout the characters: Rin and Len Kagamine are Vocaloids, first introduced with the second iteration of the Vocaloid voice synthesizer.
